Please note, masks are generally not pre-sterilised after production and prior to delivery, so it is important to sterilise them at your practice before use

Our masks are also designed to be autoclavable. If you do not have regular access to an autoclave, we recommend decontaminating your masks at 70C dry heat for 60 minutes, as per the NIH paper on N95 decontamination.

Please note, methods other than autoclaving have not been specifically studied in Halyard masks, so we are following instructions based on testing done on N95 masks, but cannot guarantee the efficacy of these methods when used on Halyard masks. This is for the user to decide at their own discretion.

Instructions on the use and cleaning of the mask as per an email received from Dr Bruce Spiess on April 4, 2020:

"The masks can be sterilized by the following methods:
- 70C for 30 minutes (A study from the NHI has since come out, as above, suggesting 60 minutes of dry heat be used for an N95 mask)
- hydrogen peroxide mist, hang to dry
- 5 parts water to 1 part bleach, dip mask in for 30 seconds, hang to dry
As far as proof of concept testing on the masks, we have done successful fit testing on 20 people. The mask should be tied tightly and pressed firmly to one’s face. We have tested the Hayland H600 material in the UF physics lab and it performs to the publicly reported standards. We are proceeding with full N95 testing but results may take several weeks.
If you are looking for Halyard H600 material, from what we understand it is not available in large quantities from suppliers but can be upcycled from surgi-centers, dental offices and veterinary hospitals/clinics."
